Silgan Closures - Champaign, IL

Pay & Schedule
  • Pay Range: $21.13 - $23.25 per hour
  • Night Shift Premium: Additional $1.00 per hour
  • Schedule: 12-hour rotating 2-2-3 schedule
    • Work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days
    • The following week: off 2 days, work 2 days, off 3 days
  • Night Shift Position
  • No Mandatory Overtime

Position Summary

The Packaging & Inventory Technician I (PIT I) is responsible for the final packaging, staging, inventory movement, and storage of finished goods. This position operates forklifts and packaging equipment while ensuring product quality, accurate inventory control, and safe material handling throughout the facility.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate forklifts to transport raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility
  • Perform pallet put-away and inventory movements
  • Label and verify finished product shipments
  • Operate stretch wrappers, labeling equipment, conveyors, and packaging equipment
  • Monitor robotic palletizers and automated guided vehicles (AGVs)
  • Respond to and resolve routine AGV and robot alarms
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and assist with inventory reconciliation
  • Load packaging materials and supplies into equipment
  • Perform minor machine adjustments and troubleshooting
  • Observe product quality and report concerns
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Follow all safety, quality, GMP, and food safety requirements
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Manufacturing, warehouse, or forklift experience preferred
  • Forklift experience strongly preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use computers, tablets, scanners, and other electronic devices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a 12-hour shift
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moving equipment and varying temperatures
