POSITION REPORTS TO:
Department Manager/Production Supervisor
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sewing Line Machine Operator is solely responsible for operation of the sewing line. Associate operates the Sewing line maintaining Safety, Quality and Productivity goals and 5s targets for the area. Associate is measured by Safety goals, Quality Goals, Productivity goals and 5s conditions within the Cable Management area.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Follow all plant safety and LOTO procedures
  2. Maintain work area keeping clean and organized according to 5s Standards
  3. Monitor machine for quality issues including stitching defects.
  4. Keep machinery running by splicing cakes, pull tape, thread etc. in an expedient manner
  5. Perform troubleshooting of stops to aid technicians with stop causes
  6. Monitor chemical application to product
  7. Perform checklists as required to ensure proper startups and product quality
  8. Operate the HMI (computer) screen to set the required parameters
  9. Creel empty reel into machine
  10. Thread Machine properly (Cakes, Pull tape, Rope, Thread)
  11. Perform minor mechanical functions such as needle changes and style changes
  12. Reverse machine as required.
  13. Perform Production, Quality, safety documentation as required
  14. Dispose of waste as required.
  15. Stage all required, reels, pull tape and other supplies as needed adhering to 5s standards
  16. Operate online Printer and ensure printing quality standards
  17. Assist in style changes on other machines and perform QC checks as required
  18. Perform all paperwork required including proper documentation of work time and downtime
  19. Identify all proper materials required using the required documentation
  20. Certify to train new associate candidates as required
  21. Participate as leader in plant activities (i.e. OFI, MQSP, M.O.C.)
  22. Understand the environmental impacts and aspects of job-related activities. Follow established Valway and Milliken & Company guidelines concerning use of all chemicals. Comply with all Environmental regulations and Milliken Environmental Policies and Rules.
  23. Perform any other duties assigned by Production Manager or Senior Production Manager as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION
This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This position is a safety-sensitive position and regularly works around moving mechanical parts and powered industrial vehicles. Noise level is generally loud. Temperatures can be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity level can be more than 98% for 100% of day.
SHIFT/WORK HOURS
Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire and will be communicated with new hire paperwork. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands.
  • 1st Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
