Summary

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Economics who will be responsible for teaching ECON 2301 (Principles of Macroeconomics) and/or ECON 2302 (Principles of Microeconomics) while ensuring effective learning experiences for students. Teaching responsibilities may include day and evening in person classes or online courses. Adjunct Faculty are also responsible for preparation for classes, maintaining subject matter expertise, and developing engaging instructional materials.
This position is filled on an as need basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required: Master's Degree with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours in Economics.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: Previous post-secondary teaching experience.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses utilizing appropriate and engaging instructional methods and techniques.
  • Create organized lesson plans and learning activities that promote student understanding and application of course material.
  • Utilize approved course syllabi and adhere to institutional guidelines.
  • Maintain and improve competence in the teaching discipline and instructional technologies.
  • Teach day, evening, dual credit, or online classes as needed.
  • Evaluate student progress and maintain accurate records of attendance and grades.
  • Participate in department, division, and college meetings or trainings as required.
  • Ensure a safe, orderly, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a high level of customer service in all interactions.
  • Complete required administrative paperwork and evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom or online setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
