Machine Learning Summer Internship information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Machine Learning Summer Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Machine Learning Summer Intern, you need a solid background in mathematics, statistics, and programming (especially Python), often supported by ongoing coursework in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, version control systems such as Git, and data analysis tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and teamwork are important soft skills that help interns contribute effectively and learn quickly. These skills and qualities are crucial for applying theoretical knowledge, collaborating on real projects, and adapting to the fast-evolving field of machine learning.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a Machine Learning Summer Internship?

As a Machine Learning Summer Intern, you can expect to contribute to projects such as data preprocessing, building and evaluating machine learning models, and assisting with the deployment of algorithms into production environments. Interns often work alongside data scientists and engineers on real-world datasets to solve business problems, develop prototypes, or improve existing models. This hands-on experience will help you gain practical skills in using popular ML frameworks and understanding the end-to-end machine learning workflow.

What is the difference between Machine Learning Summer Internship vs Data Science Summer Internship?

The choice depends on your interest in building models versus analyzing data.

What is a Machine Learning Summer Internship?

A Machine Learning Summer Internship is a temporary, typically 8-12 week program for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in machine learning. Interns work under the supervision of experienced professionals, contributing to real-world projects involving data analysis, model development, and algorithm implementation. These internships often provide mentorship, networking opportunities, and exposure to the latest tools and technologies in the field. They are valuable for building technical skills and improving career prospects in artificial intelligence and data science.

SV Kids Summer InternshipSeverns Valley Baptist Church
Love God. Love People. Make Disciples.

Ready to step into something meaningful this summer? We invite you to join the SV Kids church family as a summer intern—to pursue ministry with us, grow in your own walk with Jesus, and help shape how the next generation of children follow Him. You'll be part of a team that loves serving families, loves equipping volunteers, and loves pointing kids toward Jesus.
There is always room for one more—and we'd love for that to be you.
The Role
Position Type: Seasonal Internship (8–12 weeks) | Part-Time: 20–25 hours/week
What You'll Do
  • Lead and serve in our weekly SV Kids programming for birth through 5th grade—helping kids encounter Jesus, engage His Word, and grow in faith
  • Help plan and bring life to summer events—VBS, camps, and family gatherings where we build community and point people toward Jesus
  • Support curriculum prep, storytelling, worship, and the details that make ministry happen
  • Encourage and equip volunteers—standing beside them, learning together, and celebrating what God does
  • Walk alongside families—showing up with presence, listening, and pointing them toward hope in Jesus

Who We're Looking For
  • A growing Christian with a genuine heart for kids and their families—someone who wants to help them follow Jesus more closely
  • Someone eager to learn, willing to lead, and ready to work hard for God's Kingdom
  • A teachable team player who loves Jesus and loves people—genuinely invested in both
  • Someone with basic reliability—if you commit to show up, you show up

Why SV Kids
You won't just be running supplies to classrooms or managing logistics (though those matter too). You'll be stepping into the real work of discipleship—helping children know Jesus more deeply, love His Word more truly, and grow in faith more fully. You'll be part of a church family that pursues God together, equips leaders to serve well, and connects people to His story and to each other.
And here's the bonus: you'll gain real-world ministry experience, be mentored by church leaders who genuinely care about your growth, and work alongside a team that laughs hard, prays hard, and serves joyfully together.
Ready?

If this sounds like your next step, we'd love to talk. Send us an application or reach out with questions. We believe summer is a great time to discover how God might be calling you to serve, to grow in your faith, and to help point children toward Jesus.
