Job description

At AeroFlow Technologies, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions. You can even find our products aboard NASA’s Space Launch System and in the F-35 fighter jets. That’s the level of quality and innovation you’ll be part of when you join our team.

We are seeking a Toolmaker to plan and execute complex manufacturing jobs (such as tools assemblies, etc.). This position may also participate in activities in support of quotations for customers.

So, what will you be doing as a Toolmaker?

  • Plan and execute manufacturing jobs to meet customer requirements. The level of planning will vary depending upon the customer and internal requirements. However, toolmakers will be capable of
  • Translating customer engineering documents (drawings, specifications, etc.) into logical processes to complete tasks
  • Identifying material requirements and outside service provider requirements and communicating same to appropriate internal personnel.
  • Inspecting parts, tools and paperwork, to ensure customer requirements are met. Completing inspection paperwork as necessary.
  • Establishing a schedule of processes to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments (engineering, production planning, quality, etc.) as necessary to meet customer requirements.
  • Reading, interpreting and producing engineering drawings (both by CAD and by hand), specifications, limits, fits, and computer-generated information in order to determine what has to be produced and to what specification.
  • Selecting and using a range of measurements and testing equipment to check components are to required quality and accuracy.
  • Understanding the structure, properties and characteristics of common materials used for the manufacture and repair of tooling, mold, dies, jigs and fixtures.
  • Understanding and demonstrating the safe operation, correct selection and skilled usage of a range of hand tools used for toolmaking and die maintenance, including grinders, drills, and stones.
  • Understanding the safe operation and theory of the range of complex and often state-of-the-art workshop machinery used such as (CNC lathes, milling, grinding, drilling and welding equipment) and how to set up and operate the machinery and equipment efficiently and effectively.
  • Apply and understand the methods and techniques used to assemble and disassemble tools, jigs and fixtures.
  • The basic principles of how the relevant tools, jigs and fixtures being manufactured/maintained function, the operating sequences, the purpose of individual components/systems and how they interact.
  • The theory and application of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical and electronic systems as applied to various molding, injection, pressing and similar associated machinery.
  • Complying with statutory, quality, organizational and health and safety regulations while carrying out manufacturing techniques.
  • Testing to confirm correct operation and of the effectiveness of repairs and maintenance activities carried out.
  • Obtaining, checking and using the appropriate documentation (such as job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation and hand over documentation).
  • Properly use the MRP system to record job information
