Job Description
The Role
General Motors is seeking a skilled Workday Extend Configurator to design, develop, and implement custom solutions within the Workday platform. This role will leverage your expertise in various programming languages and configuration tools to extend Workday functionality and meet unique business requirements.
What You'll Do
  • Design, configure, and develop Workday Extend applications and integrations using Workday Studio, Workday APIs, and other relevant tools.
  • Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and Workday Extend solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze system requirements, ensuring solutions align with business objectives and IT system needs.
  • Utilize various computer languages and web programming languages to build and maintain Workday Extend applications.
  • Perform comprehensive testing and debugging of Workday Extend configurations to ensure data integrity and system performance.
  • Document technical designs, configurations, and processes for maintainability and knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment and ongoing support.
  • Stay up-to-date with Workday Extend features, best practices, and industry trends to continuously improve solutions.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of HR Technology experience (SAP, PeopleSoft, Workday).
  • 2+ years of most recent hands-on experience in building and debugging Workday Extend Applications, creating Workday custom reports, calculated fields and XSLTs.
  • Strong proficiency in Computer Program Design Techniques and experience with various Computer Languages.
  • Demonstrated experience in Web Programming Languages for developing and integrating applications.
  • Proven ability in determining IT system requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Expertise in utilizing product configurators, specifically within the Workday platform (Workday Extend, Studio, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

AI & Intelligent Systems Requirements
  • Basic, high-level understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) concepts, with awareness of common use cases.
  • Some exposure or interest in how AI can be used in enterprise platforms, such as simple automation, basic analytics, or improving user experience.
  • Familiarity with AI tools or platforms is a plus but not required; willingness to learn and explore new technologies is important.
  • Interest in identifying simple opportunities where AI can improve workflows, productivity, or platform operations.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Workday certification in relevant modules (e.g., Extend, HCM, Integrations) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Java/.Net programming language.
