Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. What is a Controls Engineer?

Controls Engineers design, test, implement, and troubleshoot control systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and low-voltage electrical circuits. These systems monitor inputs like pressure, temperature, flow rates, and equipment status, enabling automated responses or alerts to ensure safe and efficient pipeline operations.

Controls Engineers collaborate across departments-Operations, Engineering, Safety, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and more-to improve system reliability, safety, and performance. They also document projects using standardized templates and conduct thorough testing to mitigate operational risks in our 24/7/365 environment. Apply today and be part of something impactful!

What a Controls Engineering Co-Op might learn and do:

  • Understand pipeline systems, layout, and operations.
