What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for Biomedical Engineer to help maintain and perform repairs/troubleshooting for NCATS laboratory equipment used within Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 and 2 NCATS laboratories. Additionally, the individual shall provide customized solutions and platform engineering where needed to accommodate instrumentation needs. The Biomedical Engineer shall provide reports of maintenance on all NCATS active instruments as required and respond to instruments. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Rockville, MD.

  • Collaborate with researchers on system interfaces and design between multiple medical equipment manufacturers and where commercial equipment is unavailable or unacceptable.

  • Maintain, repair, modify fabricate, install and test electronic and mechanical components.

  • Complete unscheduled service orders for equipment to include calibration, electronic and mechanical repairs.

  • Analyze, modify, plan, install, evaluate, certify, and correct system malfunctions.

  • Maintain laboratory organization and assist in compliance with safety regulations.

  • Design and fabricate high quality mechanical, electro-mechanical and optical instruments in support of research activities; and fabricate special purpose devices for clinical and research applications.

  • Evaluate alternative design approaches, with due consideration to material properties and machining capabilities; select best design approach to meet the specifications.

  • Work with staff on the installation and initial checkout of the finished equipment in the experimental environment.

  • Provide technical expertise in the use of special devices and equipment, enhancing the productivity or success of the experiments.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • A minimum of SIX (6) years of experience in Biomedical Engineering

  • Proficient in MATLAB

  • Experience in design/fabrication quality assurance

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Previous experience with NIH preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $65,000.00-$108,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
