As of Jun 7, 2026, the average yearly pay for machine learning abaqus in the United States is $128,769.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $101,500.00 and $155,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the difference between Machine Learning Abaqus vs Data Analyst?

AspectMachine Learning AbaqusData Analyst
Required CredentialsAdvanced degrees in engineering, computer science, or related fields; knowledge of Abaqus software and machine learningBachelor's or master's in statistics, mathematics, or related fields; proficiency in data analysis tools
Work EnvironmentEngineering firms, simulation labs, research institutionsBusiness, finance, healthcare, and marketing sectors
Industry UsageFinite element analysis combined with machine learning for predictive modelingData collection, cleaning, visualization, and reporting

Machine Learning Abaqus professionals focus on integrating machine learning techniques with Abaqus simulation software to enhance predictive modeling in engineering contexts. Data Analysts primarily interpret and visualize data to support business decisions. While both roles require analytical skills, Machine Learning Abaqus specialists combine engineering simulation expertise with machine learning, whereas Data Analysts focus on data management and reporting across various industries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Machine Learning Engineer specializing in Abaqus, and why are they important?

To excel in this role, you need a solid background in machine learning, numerical methods, and finite element analysis, with experience in using Abaqus and programming languages like Python. Familiarity with simulation software integrations, data analysis tools, and potentially certifications in computational engineering are highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and effective communication help in collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and interpreting complex simulation results. These skills ensure accurate modeling, optimization, and innovation in engineering solutions leveraging both machine learning and simulation technologies.

How does a Machine Learning Abaqus specialist typically collaborate with engineering and data science teams on simulation projects?

A Machine Learning Abaqus specialist often works closely with both engineering and data science teams to enhance simulation accuracy and efficiency. They bridge the gap between traditional finite element analysis and advanced predictive modeling by integrating machine learning techniques with Abaqus simulations. This collaboration usually involves sharing simulation data, defining modeling requirements, and jointly developing custom algorithms or scripts to automate repetitive tasks. Regular communication ensures that engineering insights are effectively incorporated into machine learning solutions, while data scientists help optimize models for better predictive performance.

What is a Machine Learning Abaqus specialist?

A Machine Learning Abaqus specialist integrates machine learning techniques with Abaqus, a powerful finite element analysis (FEA) software, to enhance simulation accuracy, automate modeling tasks, and optimize engineering processes. By leveraging data-driven models, they help predict material behavior, improve design workflows, and reduce computational costs. These professionals typically have expertise in both advanced machine learning algorithms and the mechanics of simulation using Abaqus. Their work is valuable in industries like automotive, aerospace, and civil engineering, where accurate simulations and efficient design cycles are critical.

Job description

A humble college founded before Texas was a state, Baylor now stands as one of the premier institutions of higher education in the world. Baylor has continued to invest in research and doctoral education, both solidifying and elevating its unique status as a preeminent Christian research university. Baylor is among 187 R1 institutions, just 52 of which are private universities.

Since 2011, Baylor has been named as one of the nation's "Great Colleges to Work For". Great Colleges to Work For is one of the country's largest and most respected workplace recognition programs. Each year, Great Colleges recognizes the colleges and universities that get top employee ratings regarding workplace practices and policies across 10 areas. This recognition is based on faculty and staff responses to a related annual survey. The survey, conducted by ModernThink, is a way for colleges and universities to gain a deeper understanding of how their employees experience and view various aspects of the institution. This continued recognition further affirms Baylor as a rewarding place to build a career.

What We Are Looking For

Professor Brent Craven in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Baylor University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with a strong background in cardiovascular computational mechanics and machine learning. The successful candidate will lead research efforts in two primary areas:

  1. Computational Mechanics: Applying advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) models of the cardiovascular system and medical devices
  2. Machine Learning (ML): Developing and applying ML-based surrogate modeling for accelerating predictions from cardiovascular computational mechanics simulations

This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the leading edge of computational mechanics and machine learning applied to cardiovascular medical devices.

A Doctoral degree is required.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Science, or a related field
  • Expertise in computational mechanics modeling using commercial (e.g., Abaqus) and/or open-source software (e.g., OpenFOAM, IBAMR)
  • Demonstrated experience with machine learning
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python and C++
  • Substantial experience working in Linux environments and utilizing High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources

What You Will Do

  • Applying advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) models of the cardiovascular system and medical devices
  • Developing and applying ML-based surrogate modeling for accelerating predictions from cardiovascular computational mechanics simulations
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

A complete application will contain the following documents:

  • Up-to-date CV
  • Contact information for two professional references
  • Cover letter detailing research background and interest in the position
