STS Metals

Irwindale, CA

$18 - $21/hr

Full-time

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

STS Metals is a unified organization composed of five businesses working together to deliver high-quality titanium, stainless and alloy steel and nickel products. We proudly serve the aerospace, medical, industrial, and space industries with a commitment to innovation, manufacturing excellence, and superior customer service.

If you like hands-on work, staying active, and being part of a team that makes real products, this role is for you. As a Forge Hot Shop Helper at Sierra Alloys, you’ll support day-to-day manufacturing operations by helping the forge crew, preparing materials, moving product, and keeping work areas safe and organized.

You’ll be on your feet, working around heat, noise, and heavy materials, and supporting a fast-moving production team. It takes focus, stamina, and a strong commitment to safety.

It’s worth it because you’re part of something real. You’ll learn how manufacturing works from the ground up, build skills that can lead to operator or skilled trade roles, and take pride in work you can see and touch at the end of each shift. You’ll be supported by a team that looks out for one another, and your effort directly contributes to keeping production moving and customers satisfied.

Typical work hours are Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with flexibility required for business needs. Frequent overtime may be required. This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position.

  • Operate and monitor assigned equipment in compliance with standard operating procedures and safety requirements.
  • Perform basic setups, adjustments, and preventive checks to maintain machine performance.
  • Conduct in-process quality inspections and document results.
  • Handle raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods safely and efficiently.
  • Record production data accurately, including quantities, times, and inspection results.
  • Collaborate with team members, leads, and supervisors to meet production targets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment; follow 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues promptly.
  • Cross-train and provide support in other areas as required.
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes.
  • Ability to work in environments with extreme heat, noise, dust, and chemicals depending on specialized area.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or general labor experience helpful but not required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to safety and quality.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs., bend, stand, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Willingness to cross-train and learn new tasks.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or shifts as needed.

We offer benefits designed to support you at work and at home:

  • Medical: Choice of Kaiser or Anthem, with the company covering a generous portion of the employee contribution on the base plan, plus the option to choose from multiple plan levels
  • Dental & Vision: Company-sponsored coverage, including a base dental plan with buy-up options and vision coverage
  • Retirement: 401(k) with up to a 6% company contribution
  • Wellness: Monthly wellness program with opportunities to participate and earn monthly raffle prizes
  • Education: Tuition reimbursement to support continued learning and career development
  • Time Off: Paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, vacation, and sick time
  • Stability & Support: Year-round operation, clear expectations, and leadership and HR support
