Job Summary:
The Intern Drafter will assist other drafters in preparing drawing packages for issuance of offshore/onshore piping, structural and electrical design systems utilizing/training in 2D and 3D modeling software.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist piping, structural and electrical groups with redline mark-ups on drawing packages;
• Assist other drafters in creating drawings for assigned projects from information supplied and verbal instructions from drafting group leaders while under their tutelage;
• Responsible for keeping their direct supervisor/group leader updated on any and all concerns relating to their respective assignments and discipline;
• Assist/learn from drafting groups to ensure that all drawings adhere to client, and/or company Drafting Standards;
• Assist/learn from drafting groups to ensure that all drawings adhere to client, company and/or industry Design Standards.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• Requires current enrollment in an accredited drafting certificate or degree program;
• Must have a basic working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
• Proficient with software i.e. (AutoCAD) Autodesk
• Ability and availability to work occasional overtime to include weekends as dictated by project requirements;
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff.
Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;
• Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
• Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):
  • Must be able to lift and carry five (5) pounds;
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
