Job description

Position SummaryThe ASC Anesthesia Technician is responsible for providing technical and clinical support to anesthesia providers to ensure safe, efficient, and timely surgical case flow. This role focuses primarily on anesthesia equipment preparation, medication readiness support (within scope), and case turnover efficiency, while assisting with limited perioperative support duties as needed.Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up anesthesia machines, circuits, airway equipment, and monitoring devices prior to each case
  • Perform anesthesia machine checks in collaboration with anesthesia providers
  • Ensure availability and proper setup of airway supplies (ET tubes, LMAs, laryngoscopes, video laryngoscopy equipment, suction, etc.)
  • Assist with preparation and stocking of anesthesia medications per policy (no independent administration)
  • Maintain anesthesia carts, medication storage areas, and controlled substance documentation support processes as directed
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate with biomedical services when needed
  • Assist anesthesia providers during induction and emergence as requested
  • Support efficient room turnover related to anesthesia equipment
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety, and accreditation standards
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient transport as needed
  • Support OR turnover processes
  • Restock supplies and maintain cleanliness of anesthesia work areas
QualificationsRequired:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in surgical services, perioperative support, EMT, respiratory therapy tech, or related clinical environment
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred:
  • Previous Anesthesia Technician experience
  • Certification as Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.)
  • Familiarity with anesthesia machines and airway management equipment

  • Knowledge of sterile and infection control practices
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced ASC environment
