Job description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performsย typical machine shop operations
  • Set up and operate machining center(s) per work instructions
  • Analyze written specifications, drawings and rough sketches and takes verbal instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations
  • Follow work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Detectย and reportย defective materials or questionable conditions to management or other designee
  • Perform the following tasks including, but not limited to: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding
  • Perform inspection of machined product (including documentation of results)
  • Completeย and maintainย paperwork for parts
  • Assist in other work areas, including but not limited to, pre-form fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation and sand blasting
  • Maintainย the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve issues
  • Completeย other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Minimum fourย (4) years' experience as CNC Operator or equivalent technical machining certification/degree
  • Previous experience setting up and operating a CNC machine in a productionย environment
  • Experience with precision measurement methods and systems
  • Experience with computers (data entry, email)

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide (i.e., proven elementary math skills)
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language (i.e., proven elementary reading and writing skills)
  • Demonstrated ability to converse and comprehend using the English language
  • Demonstrated ability to use a standard computer keyboard
  • Demonstrated ability to use handheld measuring tools including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometer, tape measures, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints and/or customer product drawings

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing. Exposure to dust.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are up to 50 pounds, repeatedly.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility.
  • Ability to work productively in an environment with a wide range of temperatures.
  • Able to walk/stand a minimum of twelveย (12) hours per day.
