Journeyman Mechanic

The Field JourneymanMechanic works to guide and mentor apprentices. This position is responsiblefor performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues and repairto ensure equipment is performing optimally. For the purposes of this document, 'Company' refers to Ketek Group Inc.and all its subsidiaries.


CORE DUTIES:

        Effectively manage, schedule and prioritizemaintenance work orders and apprentices

        Rebuild and make repairs todiesel/gasoline, pneumatic, and electric powered equipment

        Plan, inspect, service, maintain,diagnose, troubleshoot, dismantle, and replace unit assemblies or parts

        Communicate with supervisors and otherdivisions on methods, procedures, standards, and hazards

        Exercise judgment in the selection ofmaterials and tools as well as methods so that the job is performed inaccordance with accepted manufacturers specifications and safety standards

        Trouble-shoot, plan, and perform workrequiring a strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, low voltage directcurrent, electronic and pneumatic principles, trade techniques, properties ofvarious materials, and operating and application principles of equipment

        Follow specifications on complex equipmentdiagrams, parts drawings and catalogues

        Examine and reason, through causeanalysis, for failure or improper operation of engines, pumps, running gear,parts, and equipment

        Repair and rebuild engines, hydraulic andelectric systems of diesel/gasoline, electric, propane and pneumatic poweredequipment

        Use precision testing equipment todetermine source and cause of fault and to perform close tolerance adjustment

        Test and operate repaired equipment asrequired

        Make field repairs as required to bringequipment back on-line

        Keep tools and equipment in clean andorderly condition

        Complete required paperwork

        Successfully complete safety training asrequired on an ongoing basis

        Observe all safety procedures and use properPersonal Protective Equipment

        Ensure all Company's work procedures, policiesand Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed

        Be considerate of the needs of our communityand the environment

        Perform other related duties as required

        Represent the Company in a lightthat is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision andMission Statements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required

        Journeyman Heavy Equipment Service Techniciancertificate with minimum one-year experience

        Fluent in the English language (reading,written, spoken)

        Able to demonstrate good hand/eye coordinationand manual dexterity

        Easily read, evaluate, and respond to productspecifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations

        Familiar and comfortable with various saws,grinders and other hand tools

        Familiar and comfortable with manufacturing andwelding machinery

        Able to operate required equipment in a safeand responsible manner

        Ability to handle changing schedules andpriorities, with high level prioritization skills

        Strong work ethic and organizational planningskills with attention to detail

Preferred

        Forklift experience

        Fall Protection experience

        AWP experience

        Overhead Crane experience

         Previous experience with stationary equipment
