MAC Angels Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Through financial grants, support programs, advocacy, and awareness initiatives, MAC Angels provides compassionate assistance while advancing understanding of the challenges faced by the ALS community.

MAC Angels Foundation is seeking a compassionate and experienced Neurology Nurse to serve as a Volunteer Board Member. This individual will bring clinical expertise, patient-centered insight, and ethical leadership to help guide the Foundation’s mission, programs, and strategic direction. The Neurology Nurse Board Member plays a critical role in ensuring that MAC Angels' initiatives reflect best practices in ALS care and are responsive to the real-world needs of patients and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance & Leadership
    • Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors, upholding fiduciary, ethical, and governance responsibilities.
    • Participate actively in board meetings, committee work, and strategic planning sessions.
    • Support the Foundation's long-term vision, mission alignment, and organizational sustainability.
  • Clinical & Programmatic Expertise
    • Provide professional insight on ALS care, symptom management, patient support, and caregiver needs.
    • Advise on the development, evaluation, and refinement of programs and services to ensure they are medically informed and patient-focused.
    • Help identify emerging trends, gaps, or best practices in ALS and neurology care relevant to the Foundation's work.
  • Advocacy & Community Engagement
    • Serve as an ambassador for MAC Angels Foundation within the healthcare and ALS communities.
    • Support education, awareness, and advocacy efforts related to ALS.
    • Assist in building relationships with clinicians, ALS clinics, healthcare organizations, and allied professionals.
  • Development & Fundraising Support
    • Support fundraising initiatives through advocacy, outreach, and participation in events.
    • Assist with donor education by helping articulate the medical and human impact of ALS.
    • Contribute to cultivating credibility and trust with donors, partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with professional experience in neurology, ALS care, or a related specialty.
  • Strong understanding of the medical, emotional, and practical challenges faced by individuals living with ALS and their families.
  • Commitment to MAC Angels Foundation’s mission and values.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and professionalism.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in an ALS clinic or multidisciplinary care setting.
  • Prior nonprofit board service or committee leadership (helpful but not required).
  • Interest in patient advocacy, community education, or nonprofit leadership.

Time Commitment:

  • Attendance at regular board meetings (typically quarterly).
  • Participation in at least one board committee.
  • Occasional involvement in events, outreach, or strategic initiatives.
  • Estimated commitment: 4-8 hours per month.
