Working as a MAC Makeup Artist offers a variety of career growth opportunities, ranging from moving into senior artist or management roles, to specializing in event, bridal, or runway makeup. Many artists gain experience on the retail floor before advancing to positions such as MAC Counter Manager, Trainer, or becoming part of the MAC Pro Team, which works on high-profile campaigns and fashion shows. The company values internal growth and provides training to help artists develop both their creative and leadership skills. Progression often depends on your drive, talent, and ability to consistently deliver exceptional service and sales results.
A MAC Makeup Artist is a professional who represents MAC Cosmetics by providing makeup application, product knowledge, and beauty expertise to customers. They work in MAC stores, department stores, or other retail locations, helping clients choose the right products and teaching application techniques. Their role also includes achieving sales goals, maintaining store displays, and staying updated on beauty trends. Excellent customer service and a passion for makeup artistry are essential skills for this position.
To thrive as a MAC Makeup Artist, you need proficiency in makeup artistry techniques, color theory, and product knowledge, usually demonstrated through previous experience or cosmetology certification. Familiarity with MAC Cosmetics products, POS sales systems, and the ability to follow sanitation protocols are often required. Strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to educate and inspire clients help set top performers apart. These abilities are crucial for delivering tailored beauty experiences, exceeding sales goals, and maintaining MAC's brand standards in a retail environment.
That means you will NEVER pay out of pocket for supplies or need to bring in your own kit!! * This is a non-contract position that pays an hourly rate starting at $15/hr. * We offer a flexible schedule with day, evening, and weekend shifts available. * Have fun! We run competitions in each studio with bonus potentials and apparel prizes, have staff outings, and care about development and cross training! Can You Check These Boxes? * Able and willing to execute makeup and hair styles for all demographics of students. * Ensure makeup and/or hair is picture perfect before and during the student’s session. * Work efficiently in time sensitive situations. * Alter or adjust makeup during session and to client requests. * Help maintain hygienic practices with makeup tools, makeup, and dressing areas. * Professional experience preferred, but not required. * Must have a High School Diploma and be able to pass a background check Why join CADY?
