Job description

The Medical Assistant (MA) is part of a team concept for the delivery of patient care in the ambulatory clinic setting with an emphasis on disease prevention and health maintenance. This individual will work closely with the clinical staff, front desk personnel and other related departments. MA's assist in caring for the patient from a variety of ages ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, under the direction of physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff. MA is responsible for performing assigned duties within his/her capabilities and scope of practice. As part of a health care team, they must be able to follow directions and work under close supervision.
What You'll Do:
  • Anticipate the needs of the clinician and carries out orders.
  • Checks Electronic Health Record (EHR) for patients' arrival status and escorts patients from waiting area to exam rooms.
  • Obtains, records, and reports vital signs and any other pertinent patient information for the RN, LVN, or clinician.
  • Assists clinician with procedures.
  • Maintains and cleans exam/treatment areas, specimen processing areas, and medical equipment.
  • Instructs patient on lab, radiology, and other procedure/testing preparations.
