Job Title Maritime Multi-Craft Apprentice Instructor
Job Duties - Prepare for and deliver instruction while supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, being aware of and responding to student needs, and managing effective instructional activities.
- Assist with curriculum development and program evaluation to maintain course effectiveness.
- Responsible for maintaining classroom and laboratory areas including upkeep of assigned equipment.
- Routinely access student performance and advise students in matters related to their programs of study.
- Assume responsibilities for teaching not only skills and knowledge, but also good citizenship, respect for the rights of others, and the proper attitude toward the college, both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Abide by all Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College policies and procedures.
- Promote the education/training program and regularly participate in efforts to recruit and retain students.
- Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
- Attend appropriate conferences, workshops, and seminars to facilitate professional development.
- Maintain certifications, continue professional development, and stay current and up to date in program of study/field.
- Comply with all applicable college, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Reports to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Maritime Training Academy Director or designee.
- Provide accurate training documentation for all apprentices as appropriate.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job DescriptionResponsible for the teaching of assigned courses at assigned times, maintaining student records and other responsibilities inherent in the Maritime Multi Craft Apprentice Instructor position.
Mandatory Qualifications(M1) Apprentice graduate or prior teaching experience from an accredited school/college/university with a minimum of 10 years maritime multi craft work experience.
(M2) Prior experience with related technical instruction (RTI) for maritime industry.
(M3) Ability to obtain NCCER credentials in multiple maritime crafts.
(M4) Strong interpersonal and written skills.
(M5) Prior experience working with craft labor unions.
Desirable QualificationsD1) Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
(D2) Teaching experience in a community college and/or high school setting.
(D3) Multi-media instructional delivery experience.
(D4) Minimum of 2 years maritime supervisory experience.
(D5) Prior experience with curriculum development.
