Job description

M&M Recycling is seeking an experienced Maintenance Welder/Fabricator to join our team at a busy scrap metal recycling facility. This position is responsible for performing after-hours maintenance and repairs on a heavy-duty metal shredder and supporting equipment to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.


This is not a production welding job. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, can work independently, and has experience repairing heavy industrial equipment.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural and wear-plate welding on shredder components.
  • Repair conveyors, hoppers, chutes, and heavy steel structures.
  • Replace liners, wear plates, shafts, and other worn components.
  • Fabricate parts as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and measurements.
  • Inspect equipment and identify potential failures before they occur.
  • Perform cutting, gouging, grinding, and fabrication work.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Be available for emergency breakdown repairs when necessary,after hours and on weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial welding experience.
  • Experience with MIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding.
  • Experience repairing heavy equipment, crushers, shredders, mining equipment, or steel mills preferred.
  • Ability to operate oxy-fuel cutting torches, plasma cutters, and air arc gouging equipment.
  • Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation and excellent attendance.
