Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Load Builder for a lumberyard and building materials supplier in Riverside, CA. This is a temp-to-hire position paying $23.63/hr with approximately 8 hours of overtime per week. In this role, you will strategically stack and build secure lumber loads in an outdoor yard environment, using banding tools, lumber buddies, and a forklift. This schedule runs Monday through Saturday with a consistent evening shift once training is complete.
Pay: $23.13/hr
Schedule: Mon-Sat 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
Location: Riverside, CA
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Primary workplace language(s): English/Spanish
Work Environment: Outdoor yard; exposure to sawdust, dust, and outdoor weather
Overtime: Weekly OT required (~8 hrs/wk)
Responsibilities
  • Carry lumber to lumber buddies and strategically stack wood to build secure, balanced loads.
  • Band completed loads tightly and tag them for delivery.
  • Catch lumber coming off the quick chop saw and re-stack it in designated areas.
  • Operate a forklift to move lumber and materials throughout the yard.
  • Inspect lumber for defects, splits, or damage and set aside non-conforming material
  • Complete load paperwork and cross off built items on work orders.
  • Verify load contents against work orders before banding and tagging for shipment
  • Sweep work area and separate returned work orders as directed.

Minimum Requirements
  • 6 months of experience in a lumber yard, building materials, warehouse, or heavy production environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building or strapping lumber loads or similar bundled material loads.
  • Familiarity with banding tools and load-securing equipment.
  • Experience operating a forklift in an outdoor yard environment.
  • Ability to read work orders and complete basic production paperwork.
  • Experience working alongside saw operators or in a cut-to-order production flow.
