Regular Schedule: Monday – Thursday or Tuesday - Friday: 6AM to 4:30PM
Madison Wood’s production departments play a key role in processing lumber for customer use. This entry-level Operator position works in a fast-paced industrial environment and is responsible for operating stationary machinery and the grading of lumber.
Essential Job Functions:
Operating stationary machinery
Lift, carry, position, and stack treated and untreated lumber
Manually stage lumber and pull individual pieces from full units for special orders
Grade lumber for quality, specifications, and compliance
Band lumber units to ensure safe handling and transport
Apply end tags using pneumatic tools
Apply moisture barrier wrapping to lumber units
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production and work areas
Train and assist other employees in safe and proper equipment operation
Perform additional production-related duties as assigned
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week)
Ability to work overtime, extended hours, weekends, or alternate shifts as business needs require
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces continuously for 8–10 hours per shift
Ability to navigate stairs, inclines, and uneven surfaces
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with and without assistance, on a frequent basis
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including lifting/overhead lifting, reaching, bending, gripping, and material handling throughout the shift
Ability to safely operate power tools and heavy machinery
Ability to work around loud noise levels for extended periods of time
Ability to work in environments with dust, vibration, and treated lumber chemicals
Minimum Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
Ability to safely operate power tools and heavy machinery
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Ability to train and assist other employees
Safety & Compliance Requirements
Must successfully complete all required safety training and maintain applicable equipment certifications
Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions without posing a direct threat to self or others
