Job description

Within our brand new state-of-the-art 600-person manufacturing facility in Lubbock, Leprino is seeking a Utilities Supervisor to lead critical plant utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration, steam, power, and compressed air, while supporting larger levels of cheese and dairy ingredient growth. What You'll Do:

  • Lead daily utilities operations that support safe, reliable production across ammonia refrigeration, steam, power, compressed air, water, and energy systems.
  • Guide and develop a utilities team responsible for PSM-covered and high-risk plant infrastructure.
  • Support compliance with OSHA, PSM, EPA, NFPA, IIAR, and related regulatory requirements tied to utility systems.
  • Oversee ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, vessels, and associated safety systems.
  • Support boiler and steam systems, including operation readiness, maintenance coordination, and system performance.
  • Provide leadership for electrical power distribution systems, including medium- and low-voltage infrastructure.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and corrective work for utility systems to reduce downtime and operational risk.
  • Partner with EHS, engineering, and plant leadership during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Contribute to utility system improvements, upgrades, and operational adjustments that improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Reinforce safe work practices, permit processes, and lockout/tagout standards across utilities operations.
  • Communicate clearly with plant leadership, maintenance, and production teams to align priorities and expectations.
  • Build an engaged utilities team through mentoring, training, and visible day-to-day leadership!

 

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):

  • 5+ years of experience supporting industrial utility systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ year of experience leading, mentoring, or directing the work of others.
  • Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Experience working with PSM-covered systems, including ammonia refrigeration or similarly regulated systems.
  • Working knowledge of industrial utilities such as boilers, steam, compressed air, electrical distribution, and refrigeration.
  • Ability to support maintenance and utilities operations in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable using computer systems and learning SAP or similar maintenance platforms.

 

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting large-scale ammonia refrigeration systems in food or dairy manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with energy recovery systems, co-generation, or CHP operations.
  • Prior supervisory experience supporting utilities, maintenance, or engineering teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • RETA certification (CARO, CIRO, or CRST) or similar ammonia refrigeration credentials.
