Job description

At CRANK, we are seeking an Embedded Software Developer with a strong focus on front-end and UI development. In this hybrid role, you will design and implement intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for embedded devices while collaborating with internal teams and customers.
 
While experience with embedded UI technologies (such as Qt/QML or LVGL) is valuable, we also welcome candidates with backgrounds in Unity, Unreal Engine, game development, or multimedia software programs who have a strong grasp of UI/UX concepts and are eager to apply their skills to embedded systems.

What you'll do in this role in Kanata:
  • Build responsive, visually polished UIs for embedded systems
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams on UI/UX design
  • Contribute to our embedded UI platform
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and UI/UX evaluations
  • Troubleshoot and optimize UI performance across hardware targets
 
What we're looking for:
  • Degree/diploma in CS, Software Engineering, Multimedia, Game Dev, or related
  • Intermediate to senior level of experience
  • Experience with scripting languages like Lua or Python
  • UI development experience (embedded, desktop, game engine, or multimedia)
  • Strong sense of design, layout, and interaction
  • Comfortable working hybrid from our Kanata office
 
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Qt/QML, LVGL, Unity, Unreal
  • Animation or motion design background
  • Familiarity with embedded constraints (performance, memory)
  • Experience with embedded software development (C/C++, RTOS, etc.)
