Job Summary


Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a Monitoring Platform Engineer to manage and optimize enterprise monitoring platforms, with a primary focus on SL1 and Dynatrace. This role is responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining monitoring policies, alerting frameworks, and performance baselines to ensure system reliability and visibility across servers, storage, cloud environments, and network devices. The engineer will develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Shell to streamline workflows, enhance integrations, and support operational efficiency. They will build custom dashboards and reports, troubleshoot performance issues, and leverage APIs, SQL databases, and Linux systems to support end-to-end monitoring capabilities.


Specific Responsibilities


  • Customize monitoring policies, event alerts, and performance baselines across enterprise systems
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SL1 appliance/software and Dynatrace monitoring platforms
  • Onboard and discover servers, storage, cloud resources, and network devices for comprehensive monitoring coverage
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, and Shell for workflow optimization and integration
  • Design and build custom reports and dashboards for data visualization and actionable insights
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues within monitoring platforms and related integrations
  • Integrate monitoring systems using REST APIs and other integration methods
  • Work with SQL databases and Linux systems (e.g., RHEL) to support monitoring capabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, developers, and engineers
  • Support special projects as identified by Government Customer
  • Provide technical assistance and support with a professional demeanor and customer service focus
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR Associate's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, OR High school diploma/GED with 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Operational experience with ServiceNow and Enterprise Monitoring Tools
  • Experience in the Intelligence Community
  • DoD 8140 (formerly 8570.01-M), IAT Level I required
  • Security+ CE certification (within 6 months of hire if not already obtained)
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Shell, JavaScript, or Lua
  • Experience with REST APIs for system integration
  • Familiarity with SQL or similar database technologies
  • Experience with Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL) and performance troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, network configuration, and tools like SolarWinds or Palo Alto Panoram
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to visualize problems and think abstractly
  • Ability to manage multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team setting
  • Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Regularly required to sit and talk or hear
