What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an LTI specialist?

To thrive as an LTI specialist, you need expertise in instructional design, educational technology, and curriculum development, usually supported by a degree in education or instructional technology. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), digital content creation tools, and integration platforms like SCORM or LTI protocols is essential. Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills help you work effectively with educators and technical teams. These skills are crucial for designing and implementing engaging, effective learning experiences that align with institutional goals and technology standards.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) implementation role?

Professionals working with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) often encounter challenges related to integrating diverse educational tools with existing Learning Management Systems (LMS). Keeping up with evolving LTI standards and ensuring compatibility across platforms can require continuous learning and close collaboration with both internal development teams and external vendors. Additionally, troubleshooting authentication issues and data exchange errors are frequent tasks, making strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail essential. Effective communication with educators and IT staff is also crucial to ensure seamless user experiences.

What is an LTI professional?

LTI professionals are specialists who work with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), a standard developed by IMS Global for integrating external learning applications with learning management systems (LMS). Their role often involves developing, implementing, and maintaining LTI-compliant tools and ensuring seamless integration between educational platforms and third-party resources. These professionals may work in educational technology companies, academic institutions, or organizations providing e-learning solutions. They need skills in software development, knowledge of LMS platforms, and familiarity with interoperability standards. LTI experts help enhance digital learning experiences by enabling smooth access to diverse educational tools within an LMS environment.

Job description

LTi Technology Solutions is seeking a Senior HR Generalist to serve as a critical operational and strategic partner within a lean, high-impact Human Resources function. This role is designed for an experienced HR professional who thrives at the intersection of hands-on HR operations and forward-looking people strategy.

Reporting directly to the VP, Human Resources, this position will own day-to-day HR operations — including full payroll administration, HRIS platform management, employee relations, and compliance — while supporting broader people initiatives aligned to LTi's growth priorities under Diversis Capital ownership. The ideal candidate brings deep operational expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

HR Operations, Payroll, & Compliance

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for the organization, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable federal and state wage and hour regulations; VP, HR serves in an oversight and escalation capacity
  • Maintain and administer the HRIS platform, including data integrity, reporting, and system configuration in support of an active platform migration
  • Own HR recordkeeping, documentation, and compliance processes (I-9, ACA, FMLA, EEO, etc.)
  • Support the development and maintenance of HR policies, employee handbook updates, and standard operating procedures

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Act as a trusted point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance and resolution in alignment with company policy and best practices
  • Support managers and employees through performance management cycles, corrective action processes, and workplace issue resolution
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding workflows, ensuring a consistent and compliant employee experience

HRIS & Systems

  • Take primary ownership of HRIS administration, including system updates, user access, reporting, and integration with payroll and benefits systems
  • Partner with the VP, HR on the active HRIS platform migration, including data validation, UAT, and change management support
  • Identify and implement process improvements through system capabilities and automation

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Support benefits administration including open enrollment, vendor coordination, and employee inquiries
  • Administer leave programs (FMLA, STD, PTO) in compliance with federal and state requirements

Strategic & Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with the VP, HR on PE-driven HR initiatives, reporting requirements, and organizational development projects
  • Provide analytical support including headcount reporting, turnover analysis, and compensation benchmarking
  • Contribute to a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and employee engagement
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR generalist or HR operations experience, ideally within a technology, professional services, or PE-backed company
  • Hands-on payroll processing ownership experience, including knowledge of applicable federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Hands-on HRIS administration experience; ability to serve as an internal subject matter expert and system owner
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, lean team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with employees at all levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting HR operations in a private equity-backed or recently acquired company
  • Familiarity with HRIS platform migrations, including data conversion and change management
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification
  • Experience with benefits administration and leave management programs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort working with HR data and reporting

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
