The candidate will function as Engineering lead, providing subject matter expertise, engineering, and operational support for the 4G/5G packet broker infrastructures and solutions. The candidate will lead multiple medium to large-scale projects and provide guidance and support to staff members and peers. The candidate will develop resolutions to complex problems that require the use of creativity and makes decisions that influence key project objectives. The candidate will need to exercise considerable judgment in developing methods, techniques & evaluation criteria for obtaining results. The candidate is also expected to participate in budget planning and the contract review process, as well as take action on purchase orders, track milestones and ensure timely receipt of budget commitments. The candidate will need to be a detail-oriented team leader that can engage, mentor and motivate a team.
The candidate will work with the internal network teams to develop design, sizing, and call flow models to ensure applications will meet performance, capacity and security requirements. The candidate will also provide input on product roadmaps and key performance indicators (KPIs).
The candidate will be leading the nationwide deployment of the virtual packet broker solution in both Kubernetes and OpenStack environments to provide visibility into 5GC VNF/CNF communication. The candidate will also lead the deployment of various physical packet broker solutions including 5G sampling and legacy visibility infrastructure consolidation. The candidate will need to have extensive hands-on experience in virtual application deployment, as well as experience with end to end call flow debugging, packet analysis and transport troubleshooting. The successful candidate will have experience deploying large virtual network solutions and will be able to demonstrate strong knowledge of Linux and debugging techniques for the applications and transport elements.
The candidate will define and create dashboards for the reporting of service KPI and analytics for the new and existing services within the engineering and operations team. The candidate will be able to interpret KPI trends and measurements and help operations address capacity and demand growth on the systems by defining and creating plans.
The candidate must have detailed knowledge of 5G, LTE and IMS network call-flows and network architecture, and will interact with a variety of network driven organizations providing leadership/mentoring expertise on the facets of networking, application design, and engineering functions of the application and Cloud transformation technologies.
The candidate must have strong working knowledge of Python, Ansible or other programming languages, as well as hands-on experience automating processes and working on automation projects to help address gaps in KPI reporting or enhance application deployments. The candidate should have extensive experience in scripting and automation and have a knack for using these abilities to increase efficiency within a production environment. The candidate should have experience in developing ETL workflow, data acquisition optimization and data migration.
You will need to have:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Six or more years of relevant work experience
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing technologies
• Extensive experience with virtual application deployment and Orchestration
• Capability to carry out performance tuning and resource optimization as required
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DIAMETER, SIP and LDAP
• Advanced knowledge of protocol analysis tools such as IrisView, NetScout and Wireshark
• Strong automation experience with Python, Ansible or other programming languages and tools
• Strong knowledge of 5G, LTE, IMS, VoLTE call flows
• In-depth knowledge of design principles of OpenStack architecture and how networking operates in an OpenStack cloud
• Project management experience, with strong leadership skills and ability to drive teams to consensus
