Job description
The role of this position encompasses a wide scope of activities and initiatives that will bring solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues or network concerns. Engineers will work with mobile devices testing the latest features in technology and /or telecommunication available on the market. The testing scope includes connectivity test, lab test, and others as required. The position requires the Engineer to perform systems management and integration functions involving engineering work on cellular, wireless devices and systems.
Responsibilities- Ability to execute 3GPP based 4G/5G Modem System Verification Test Plans in lab environment.
- Ability to configure and prepare test equipment (Keysight, Rhode and Schwarz, Anritsu, etc.) for lab testing of modems.
- Ability to create automation scripts for test execution.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the UE logs collected report bugs or issues related to modem protocol, call processing and performance.
- Prepare daily/weekly reports and KPI dashboards.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve bugs and improve modem performance.
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers as required.
- About 2 to 5 years’ experience in 3GPP 4G/5G based Modem System Verification.
- Subject matter expertise in 3GPP 4G/5G specifications related to modem call processing and call flows.
- Self-starter with capability to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines and goals.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Capability to articulate protocol and performance related bugs and issues to internal and external teams.
- Knowledge of Python to understand automation scripts, detect bugs and improve efficiency.
- Knowledge of data mining and data management would be desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution.
- General understanding for telecommunication knowledge and Android platform device
- Analytical, Scientific, Data Mining and Database management software
- Access software, cloud-based management software, communications server software
- Strong knowledge of 5G, LTE, HSPA+/WCDMA including PHY/MAC, signaling, call processing concepts and upper layers.
- Good understanding on GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, CDMA, HSPA, LTE, 5G, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, mobile phone software architecture and telecommunication network configuration
- Experience in analyzing logs, troubleshooting issues from lab for UMTS/GSM CS, PS calls, LTE and 5G Data calls, metric test is plus. Experience with specific logging/analysis tools such as QXDM, QPST, XCAL, XCAP
- Experience in tracing and debugging using tools to fully analyze protocol stack related issues in appropriate 3GPP specifications.
- Experience with Transport Layer protocols such as TCP, UDP, and analysis tools such as Wireshark.
- Some programming skills in Python, Java and Perl script is desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point) is essential for creating test reports.
- Understanding of TCP/UDP, IP Packet, OSI Protocol Model
- Solid understanding of SW testing techniques and methodologies
- Transaction security and virus protection software; Network monitoring software
