What is an LPN?

LPNs, or Licensed Practical Nurses, are healthcare professionals who provide basic nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and doctors. Their responsibilities typically include monitoring patients' health, administering medications, assisting with daily activities such as bathing and dressing, and updating patient records. LPNs work in various settings like hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and private homes. They play an essential role in supporting both patients and other healthcare staff to ensure quality care.

What does an LPN do?

A Licensed Practical Nurse, or LPN, is a Nurse who performs patient care and administrative tasks. They work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and doctors. Some of the responsibilities of an LPN include, administiring medications, changing bandages, monitoring and documenting the patients health, supervising nursing aids, and providing emotional support to patients and their families. What are some common challenges licensed practical nurses face when working in fast-paced healthcare settings?

Licensed Practical Nurses often work in environments such as hospitals, clinics, or long-term care facilities where patient needs can change rapidly. One common challenge is managing multiple patients with varying levels of care needs while maintaining accuracy in documentation and medication administration. Developing strong organizational and time-management skills helps LPNs navigate these demands and provide high-quality patient care.
