TechINT is recruiting for a skilled individual to work on site at the Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC) Technical Exploitation Unit (TExU). The successful applicant will perform electronic and trend analysis of IEDs and associated components to include device identification, radio frequency and signal characterization, electrical schematic reconstruction, electronic data recovery and possible trends in IED related matters. Job Description
Perform circuit analysis of electronic circuits & schematics to determine functionality. Develop accurate schematics of complicated devices in various conditions in a timely fashion. Conduct soldering/de-soldering of electronic components, reverse engineering, schematic generation, troubleshooting, and testing. Accurately enter characteristics of devices into databases & other tools for further analysis. We’re looking for an electronics technician who can use their skills to apply advanced technical solutions in support of law enforcement investigations.
Our team performs a wide range of technical examinations required to successfully exploit both commercial and custom electronic devices, including performing electronic data recovery and digital forensic examinations to identify and understand information of interest. In addition, you'll conduct reverse engineering and characterization of both the electrical function and communication characteristics of electronic circuits, while using complex instrumentation to test circuit function.
*NOTE: This position will have TDYs. They will typically last 1-2 weeks!
Requirements
  • Associate degree in electronics or other applicable field and relevant professional experience.
  • 4+ years of experience testing electronic or electrical devices with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters
  • 4+ years of experience performing analysis on, generating schematics of, and troubleshooting electronic or electrical devices to the component level in various conditions
  • 1+ years of experience extracting data from networks and devices such as computers, mobile devices, drones, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Knowledge of electronic circuit design and PCB layout
  • Knowledge of physical interfaces used for inter-IC communication, including I2C, SPI, LPC, or PCIE
  • Ability to prepare written documents, including reports, test plans, design specifications, requirements documents, and training materials
  • Ability to brief and present findings to clients, customers, and external partners, interact with client engineers, and respond to technical questions and requests from customers
  • Ability to pay excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have TS clearance active to be considered
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Chain of Custody and evidence handling procedures in a forensic laboratory
  • Experience with imaging, extracting, and parsing data from electronic devices
  • Experience with reverse engineering tools, including IDA Pro, OllyDbg, or Ghidra
  • Ability to program with Python, C, and C++ programming languages
