Purpose
General Counseling and Mental Health Center, is seeking to fill one (1) positions as the coordinator of our Mindful Eating Program. Must be licensed at Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist.This position will provide short-term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with emphasis on supporting students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.
Responsibilities
Provide short-term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with emphasis on supporting students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.
- Conduct initial assessments of students' presenting concerns. Conduct short-term counseling with students referred for service.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement a good blend of programmatic interventions which address the psycho-social mental health needs of students as applicable
- Identify group assignment preferences and propose/develop new groups, as appropriate.
- Initiate advertising/recruitment and screening for group.
- Facilitate groups in accordance with service agreement.
- Demonstrate knowledge about group counseling and/or seek appropriate training.
Reviews client record to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered. Maintains current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and Counseling and Mental Health Center, CMHC, policies.
Provide clinical consultation to others on an as-needed basis and seeks consultation when appropriate. Provide urgent care services as necessary to students.
- Works collaboratively and cooperatively with other mental health professionals on CMHC's multidisciplinary staff and other university departments and organizations
- Develops linkages with key contacts of the designated population or issue for the purpose of developing and implementing programmatic interventions which generate substantial participation by students.
Provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, as well as pre-doctoral psychology practicum students.
- Provides individual supervision of interns, practicum students, or psychiatric residents.
- Provides individual supervision of group co-leaders.
- Supervises interns' supervision of practicum students.
- Co-leads training seminars.
- Offers and supervises preceptorships and apprenticeships for interns.
- Participates on training-related committees.
- Participates in training activities during the orientation period.
- Timely signature on clinical documentation and communication with supervisor of relevant issues.
Other required activities:
- Attend and participate in departmental and division meetings and staff development programs as assigned.
- Participates in the prevention and outreach team meetings by contributing new ideas, engaging in problem solving and seeking better ways to impact the mental health needs of students.
- Comply with all CMHC and UT policies, procedures, and guidelines.
May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work or other degree which meets eligibility requirement in Texas for licensure.

- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or other degree acceptable to the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychology.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed to practice independently as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist or the equivalent from another state; must be able to obtain licensure in Texas within one year if licensed in another state.
- Experience in high demand outpatient or inpatient mental health setting.
- Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied client population.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Two (2) years' experience providing services to college aged persons with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in working with serious mental illness.
- At least 3 years of significant experience in providing short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention services to a culturally varied population.
- At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in high demand outpatient or inpatient mental health settings.
- At least 3 years of experience providing crisis intervention, triage, care coordination, and brief therapy to young adults and/or college students.
- Experience working in a college/university counseling center or outpatient mental health setting.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of mental health providers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus personnel, such as professionals in academic affairs and other student services providers.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a large system, and to participate and collaborate effectively in a large mental health services agency.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a flexible yet highly organized working style.
- Licensed as an LPC/LCSW/Psychologist for a minimum of two years.
Salary Range
LCSW/LPC: $82,860 + depending on qualifications
PhD: $95,400 + depending on qualifications
