Job Purpose and Summary
A Low-boy Driver is responsible for the delivery of equipment to a destination safely and in a timely manner. Duties consist mainly of moving equipment between job sites and the Tapani yard.
Responsibilities
  • Mobilize equipment using low-boys
  • Ensure all of the right permits and correct paperwork have been acquired before
    making a move
  • Ensure all items on the truck bed are secure
  • Make sure all loads are legal
  • Understand weight restrictions on routes
  • Assist Equipment Dispatcher in deciding best routes for permits
  • Ensure driving laws are adhered to
  • Do standard maintenance checks on the truck
  • Assist with piloting oversize loads
  • Helping keep the yard organized when returning loads back to the shop
  • Moderate degree of complexity:
  • Moving oversize loads through traffic and narrow city streets and narrow
    county roads.
  • Determination of time frames when mobilizing oversize loads between
    restrictions.
  • Tracking hours on duty.
  • Making decisions when it comes to cancelling a move due to restrictions/ on duty
    hours
  • Communicating with others within the organization.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of related working experience
  • Class A CDL required with fifth wheel endorsement and minimal restrictions.
  • A good understanding of safely securing difficult loads
  • Have a good knowledge of road systems in Washington and Oregon
  • A competent driver with large loads
  • Communication between co-workers.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift 100lbs.
  • Ability to carry 80lbs.
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Independent judgment/action
  • Decision making skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to present/teach, mentor and train

Working Environment
  • The working environment for this position will be mainly operating a truck and the
    field and facilities yard.
  • Working hours typically range between the hours of 7am to 5pm. Earlier starting
    times and longer days are typical throughout the busier seasons.
  • Extensive travel
  • Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and climbing
  • Frequent sitting, bending, reaching, repetitive motions of feet and hands/wrists,
    hearing, and talking
