Our product line includes large-scale equipment such as air handling units and modular data centers. We pride ourselves on innovation, quality, and delivering tailored solutions to meet our clients' unique needs.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an electrical engineer to join our team. You will be part of the North American electrical engineering department at Silent-Aire, focusing on the electrical design for data center applications including HVAC systems, modular data centers and more.

Under the supervision of the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for collaborating in technical client conversations, pricing efforts, design development, code reviews, specification compliance, equipment certification, equipment testing, guidance for development of construction documents, support during manufacturing, commissioning, and warranty. This position will be required to stamp engineering designs and supervise and mentor junior designers and engineers.

The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to review performance components, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), and implement innovative design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Design:
    • Provide technical design support with a focus on electrical design engineering. Design custom data center air handling units (AHU), liquid cooling equipment (CDU, pump skids), and modular data centers (MDC) to client specifications. Develop and test AHU, CDU, and MDC products.
    • Create and maintain electrical engineering drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, cable/harness layouts, and panel layouts for HVAC equipment and modular data center applications.
    • Perform electrical calculations for equipment such as MCA (minimum circuit ampacity), MOP (maximum overcurrent protection), and basic circuit loading.
    • Troubleshoot testing/production issues with electrical equipment.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Ensure all project deliverables are produced in a timely manner, and stakeholders are informed at all stages of the project.
    • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on design solutions, troubleshooting, testing, etc.
  • Standards and Code Compliance:
    • Ensure the designs and drawings are in accordance with established Silent-Aire standards and procedures.
    • Application of electrical codes, standards, and industry practices with demonstrated ability to select and place products within industrial equipment adhering to the customers' specifications.
  • Documentation:
    • Review and preparation of work products including BOM generation and costing, design submittals, reports, drawings, and Engineering Change Requests.
    • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for design processes and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to ensure consistency and quality in engineering practices.
  • Testing and Optimization:
    • Work closely with Quality, Production, and other engineering groups to develop test specifications for products and assemblies in accordance with company guidelines, industry standards, codes, and client specifications.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying best practices and implementing innovative design solutions.
  • Project Coordination and Collaboration:
    • Participate in VAVE initiatives from conception through execution, participating actively in cross-functional meetings to support project timelines and objectives.
    • Take a critical role in project execution and engage in multiple aspects of the business including support for estimating, business development and sales, R&D innovation, production improvements, procurement, marketing, and service.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical/controls, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain to identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance enhancement.
    • Collaborate and coordinate with production team for feedback/improvement opportunities of electrical design through change management procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree and registration as a P.Eng. with APEGA. P.L.(Eng) within this scope of work may also be considered.
