Job description

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications and services on the Waystar Claims platform. You will contribute to C#/.NET microservices, event-driven messaging, and SQL Server data tiers, working alongside senior engineers and architects to deliver reliable, high-quality healthcare revenue cycle solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, deploy, andmaintainsoftware applications and services using C#/.NET.

  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and teammates to understand requirements and deliver well-scoped technical solutions.

  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code adhering to Waystar's coding standards and best practices.

  • Participate in code reviews, giving and incorporating constructive feedback to maintain code quality.

  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues,identifyingrootcausesand implementing effective solutions.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Waystar's software development processes and tooling.

  • Develop andmaintainautomated tests (unit and integration) to ensure software reliability and stability.

  • Monitor application behavior using Splunk and other observability tools; surface and escalate performance concerns.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, applyingnew approacheswithin your area of work.

  • Participate in technical design discussions for new features,contributingimplementation-level insights.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 3-5 years of professional software development experience witha track recordof delivering production-quality software.

  • Proficiencyin C# and .NET (both .NET 8 and .NET Framework); solid understanding of the .NET ecosystem.

  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.

  • Experience with SQL Server - writing queries, stored procedures, and understanding basic schema design.

  • Experience working within microservices and distributed systems that use asynchronous, message-based architectures (e.g., RabbitMQ).

  • Working knowledge of software development best practices including Agile methodologies, CI/CD (Azure DevOps Pipelines), and automated testing.

  • Familiarity with Git-based version control and GitHub pull request workflows.

  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong communicationand interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to manage your own tasks and priorities with guidance in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Familiarity with Helm chart-based Kubernetes deployments.

  • Experience with Redis for distributed caching.

  • Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse technologies.

  • Familiarity with structured logging and observability tools such as Splunk.

  • Knowledge of X12 EDI healthcare transaction standards (837 claim submission, 835 remittance advice, 270/271 eligibility inquiry/response).

  • Knowledge of healthcare IT standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) or prior experience in the healthcare revenue cycle industry.
