Hydro One is proud to be the largest electricity transmission and distribution provider in Ontario, serving nearly 1.5 million customers. We have a long history in the industry with our roots dating back over 110 years to 1906. Since then, we have worked to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of our customers and communities across Ontario. Today, we’re focused on providing exceptional customer service and ensuring we are building safe communities where we live, work and play.

It’s an exciting time to join the team at Hydro One!

Job Function:

Lead development and sustainment activities for Information Technology (IT) applications to support Line of Business (LoB) solutions and services based on user requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Perform tactical activities including designing, inspecting, and implementing code for relevant applications using various programming languages in an agile environment. Guard the quality of the code for business technology solutions and prevent the accumulation of technical debt by applying sound engineering practices. Work closely with the Pod team to manage backlog, prioritize user stories, and confirm requirements are clear and complete before development. Support the Application Service Management lifecycle by analyzing trends to prevent occurrence of incidents, problems, and errors and improve overall performance; and conduct break/fix work. Perform release management, deployment, sustainment, user support, incident restoration, and continuous improvement activities with relevant groups.

Lead the technical design, development, extension, deployment, and sustainment of SAP Fiori applications and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) solutions, including SAP Build capabilities, to support SAP S/4HANA and enterprise business processes. Apply SAP Fiori design principles, clean-core extension practices, secure integration patterns, and modern DevOps controls.

Job Description:

  • Work closely with the Pod Lead to plan a successful development process, including development cycles and releases.
  • Self-organize and collaborate with the Pod team and stakeholders to execute development and sustainment activities for applications based on requirements and SLAs. Applications may require one or more programming languages.
  • Guard code quality and prevent the accumulation of technical debt by applying sound engineering practices. Apply SAP clean-core principles and select the appropriate in-app, or side-by-side extension approach with solution and enterprise architects. Follow development standards for reusable components, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, transport and release controls, monitoring, performance, accessibility, and technical documentation.
  • Support the creation of technical documentation for applications delivered. Develop the technical design, develop, enhance, test, deploy, and support responsive SAP Fiori applications using SAPUI5, Fiori elements, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, MVC patterns, SAP Business Application Studio, and SAP Fiori design guidelines
  • Work with the Pod team to manage the backlog, prioritize user stories, and confirm requirements are clear and complete before development.
  • Discuss business requirements and user stories with the Agile Business Analyst to ensure a clear and complete understanding before development.
  • Collaborate with the Pod team, Solution Architect, and stakeholders to improve the design and development of new applications, integrations, and associated business processes.
  • Develop and recommend technical strategies and solutions to maintain or expand service levels. Develop and consume OData V2/V4 and REST APIs; collaborate on SAP Gateway services, CDS views, annotations, authorizations, and secure connectivity to SAP S/4HANA and other enterprise systems. Build side-by-side and low-code extensions on SAP BTP using SAP Build Apps, SAP Build Process Automation, SAP Build Work Zone, and, where applicable, SAP Build Code and CAP. Implement BTP security and connectivity using Destination, Connectivity, Authorization and Trust Management, Identity Authentication, and role collections; support APIs and SAP Integration Suite where required.
  • Perform release management, deployment, and other sustainment activities with other groups as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Support the Application Service Management lifecycle by analyzing trends, preventing incidents and problems, improving performance, and conducting break/fix work while managing business risk. Configure, extend, and troubleshoot SAP Fiori Launchpad and SAP Build Work Zone, including catalogs, spaces, pages, roles, tiles, target mappings, destinations, and identity integration.
  • Deliver user support services, complete quick fixes, and drive incident, issue, and outage investigation and restoration.
  • Inspect daily work, adapt to change, and improve team delivery capabilities through retrospectives.
  • Perform other duties as required.
