Job description

Job Title: Education and Literacy Instructor (ESL)
Locations: Haltom City Public Library
Salary: Based on experience
Work Hours: Tuesday - Thursday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
General Job Duties: Develop and maintain ESL lesson plans based upon formal assessments and student goals using instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs. Instruction must produce educational improvements for all assigned students as measured by student baseline/progress testing. Conducts any and all activities necessary to secure progress tests for all students after 60-70 hours of instruction. Work in coordination with curriculum developer to develop effective lesson plans
Conduct all activities necessary to meet and surpass all Target Performance Measures. Submit all required documentation and reports in accordance with program guidelines: student-related (attendance reports, assessment, counseling notes, etc. and all staff-related (timesheets, professional development forms, end of year, etc.) Manage classroom behavior
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents required in a timely manner. Attend staff meetings, and other Goodwill North Central Texas event/meetings as required. Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level (preferred). ESL certification (preferred). Working knowledge of a second language (preferred). Trained in adult learning methodology and a minimum of two years' experience working with adults. Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly with individuals from diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, and community.
Physical Requirements: Office environment, mobile, ability to sit for long periods of time, and able to lift 10-15 lbs occasionally. Must have reliable transportation.
Legal Requirements: Documentation to satisfy I-9, ability to pass drug screen, background check, and meet staff qualifications.
