Merchants Fleet is seeking a strategic and results-driven Manager, Off Rent Program to lead the execution and optimization of our off-rent fleet operations. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for maximizing asset value from vehicle return through reconditioning and disposition, while driving operational efficiency, reducing cycle times, and improving overall fleet performance.

What You'll Do: 

As Manager, Off Rent Program, you'll oversee the end-to-end management of off-rent assets, ensuring vehicles move efficiently through inspection, repair, reconditioning, and remarketing channels. You'll partner across the organization and with external vendors to optimize asset utilization, reduce costs, and improve operational outcomes.

Location: Hybrid - Hooksett, NH
Travel: 5-10%

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead fleet lifecycle decisions for off-rent assets, including retain-versus-sell strategies based on age, mileage, utilization, equity, and reconditioning costs.
  • Oversee damage assessment processes to ensure accurate estimates, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Manage client escalations and dispute resolution while driving transparency, accountability, and cost recovery.
  • Reduce service cycle times through effective vendor management, capacity planning, and workflow optimization.
  • Oversee vendor performance across vehicle inspections, maintenance, body work, and repair completion.
  • Ensure timely and accurate operational data capture, including repair status, vendor assignments, and estimated completion dates.
  • Partner with remarketing teams to optimize vehicle disposition timing and sales channel selection.
  • Monitor aging inventory and execute strategies that minimize depreciation exposure and improve throughput.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality.
  • Leverage reporting and analytics to drive performance across key metrics, including cycle time, utilization, repair costs, and damage recovery.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives, system enhancements, and operational improvement projects.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable business decisions.
  • Deep understanding of fleet operations, asset lifecycle management, and cost optimization.
  • Proven experience managing vendor relationships and driving performance across distributed partner networks.
  • Demonstrated success implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.
  • Advanced proficiency with reporting and data analysis tools such as Power BI, Excel, or similar platforms.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in fleet management, operations, asset management, logistics, or a related discipline.
  • Prior leadership or people management experience preferred.
