About the Role

As Building Manager for Illini Hillel at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, you will keep things running smoothly by overseeing building operations, maintenance, repairs, vendors, and one maintenance staff member. You will manage a budget, ensure building security, and act as the main contact for the tenant’s building needs. If you have prior experience in building operations, enjoy solving problems, and want to help contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for students, this is a rewarding opportunity to support a non-profit and make a difference in your local community.

The salary for this role is $56,000 annually.

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Maintains the property, machinery, and equipment to ensure proper and satisfactory condition. Makes necessary property repairs, including heating, air conditioning systems, and related components. 
  • Regularly inspects building conditions to determine need for supplies, repairs, equipment, and tools. 
  • Provides efficient physical operation and control of all building related functions, including moving equipment and furniture, decorating, pest control, use and condition of parking lot, general cleaning, window washing, exterior improvements, and other required activities.
  • Creates, maintains, schedules, and updates work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Processes forms and reports related to the building operations and employee activity. 
  • Supervises one maintenance staff member.
  • Administers contracts related to the property and approves appropriate vouchers and invoices for payment, within budget and signatory authority. 
  • Implements and monitors security requirements. 
  • Keeps Property Manager informed on all building items and acts as the primary point of contact for tenants on building needs, issues, and to provide on-call service as needed. 
  • Follows Facilities Corporation policies and procedures. 

What you need to succeed:  

  • 4+ years’ building maintenance and operations experience. 
  • 2+ years’ practical experience in HVAC, plumbing, electricity, boilers, pumps, etc.
  • High school diploma; specialized technical education or associate degree in engineering desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people in a cooperative spirit.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills including the ability to read, understand, and speak English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs, work in cramped spaces, have visual acuity, reasonable hearing, and be mobile.
