Job description

Magna-Power Electronics (MPE), a Flemington, New Jersey based electronics manufacturer, we believe that world-class engineering starts with a great team. We're incredibly proud of the culture we've built, one that truly supports our people and has earned us award-winning workplace recognitions.
Now, as we continue to grow, we're looking for a Embedded Systems Engineer to join our family. At MPE your expertise won't just sit on a shelf; it will power the future. You'll be diving into exciting, globally impactful projects, shaping everything from electric vehicle powertrains and next-generation semiconductor fabrication to particle accelerators, cutting-edge energy research, and national defense. If you're looking for a place where your work matters and your team has your back, you've found it.
Role Summary
As a Power Electronics Embedded Systems Engineer within Magna-Power's R&D team, you will design and integrate sophisticated control architectures for multi-kilowatt programmable DC power supplies. You will be responsible for the full development lifecycle-from modeling advanced control algorithms to implementing ultra-reliable firmware and validating high-voltage hardware-directly impacting the performance and reliability of our next-generation power solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and tune high-bandwidth closed-loop control models (PI/PID, state-space) in MATLAB/Simulink for real-time power conversion.
  • Architect and implement deterministic bare-metal C firmware for TI C2000 MCUs, including low-level drivers (PWM, ADC, CAN, Ethernet).
  • Design mixed-signal and high-voltage 2- to 4-layer PCBs using Altium Designer, prioritizing signal integrity and DFM.
  • Perform hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation and lab debugging using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and differential probes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance (UL/IEC/CE) and support volume production sustainment.

Requirements
  • Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field (MS preferred).
  • Experience: 5+ years in power electronics engineering with a focus on switching converter design.
  • Control & Modeling: Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink for control loop modeling and auto-code generation.
  • Embedded Systems: Expert in bare-metal C programming for TI C2000 or equivalent 32-bit real-time MCUs.
  • Hardware Design: Hands-on experience with Altium, PCB bring-up, and laboratory communication protocols (SCPI, Python).

Perks & Benefits
In addition to your competitive compensation, Magna-Power provides a comprehensive total rewards package designed to help you thrive:
  • Health & Wellness: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
  • Financial Future: 401(k) plan with a competitive company match, plus Life/Supplemental insurance, Critical Illness & Accident plans, and FSA options.
  • Work-Life Balance: Generous accrued paid time off to unplug and recharge, and a steady work schedule (Monday-Friday Only).
  • Continuous Learning: Tuition reimbursement programs, certifications, conferences and additional learning opportunities to fuel your ongoing professional development and technical mastery.
  • Relocation Package: Reimbursement Stipend for relocation costs provided for eligible new hires (US Domestic Only).

An Inclusive Place to Build Your Career
We don't just build world-class products; we build exceptional careers. If you are driven to learn and innovate, you will find unlimited growth potential here.
Innovation demands diverse perspectives and minds. Magna-Power Electronics is a proud equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive, welcoming workplace. We proudly consider all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status. Should you require accommodations due to a disability at any time during the hiring and/or assessment process, we will make all reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.
