Job description

Elementary Teacher (Long-Term Substitute)
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed elementary educator for a 12-week long-term substitute position, starting in April 2026.
St. Pius X Catholic School Southgate is seeking a long term subbing position for math/science in grades 4 and 5 April - June 2025
DUTIES:
  • Follow lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher
  • Provide instruction to students in mathematics and science
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Communicate with school staff and parents as needed
  • Complete required paperwork and reports
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching permit
  • Experience working with children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow lesson plans and manage classroom behavior
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan.
  • All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.
  • All teachers who are catechists (teachers of religion) must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools (or willing to obtain such certifications).
