The Role: Senior Front-End Software Engineer - WordPress
As a Senior Front-End Software Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain Switch's public-facing websites and internal web applications. Working within the Branding Department, you will partner closely with the Sr. Director of Web, designers, project managers, and developers to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing digital experiences. You will provide technical leadership for front-end development, mentor other developers, and help establish maintainable engineering practices that support long-term success.
What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications and websites using WordPress and modern front-end technologies.
  • Translate UX and UI designs into responsive, accessible, production-ready code.
  • Partner with designers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver web solutions that meet business and brand objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for front-end development, including estimating work, identifying risks, and contributing to architecture decisions.
  • Build reusable components and maintain design systems that improve consistency and scalability.
  • Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and third-party platforms.
  • Optimize application performance through code splitting, lazy loading, caching, bundle optimization, and Core Web Vitals best practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and implementation guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across browsers, devices, and environments.
  • Mentor developers by sharing knowledge, reviewing code, and promoting engineering best practices.
  • Provide project updates through Asana and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies with stakeholders.
  • Explore and adopt AI tools that improve development workflows, productivity, code quality, and collaboration.

  • Typically 7-10 years of professional front-end software engineering experience.
  • Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, WordPress, and Divi.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or similar.
  • Experience translating UX and UI designs into production-ready applications.
  • Experience leading front-end technical decisions and contributing to application architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), semantic HTML, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience integrating applications with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and third-party services.
  • Experience optimizing web performance using modern front-end techniques.
  • Experience with build tools such as Vite, Webpack, Rollup, npm, Yarn, or pnpm.
  • Experience with automated testing using tools such as Jest, Vitest, Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, project managers, developers, QA engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve productivity, communication, and software delivery.

Preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience building enterprise marketing websites and internal web platforms.
  • Experience developing reusable design systems and component libraries.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
  • Experience mentoring junior developers or serving as a technical lead.
