Job description

Amentum is looking for a Senior Engineer (UEM Electrical) to work out of our Ijamsville MD office.

Key Responsibilities

Provide design and component options for new UEM underwater sensor arrays or repair equipment, advanced development of emergent UEM array sensor systems, and materials for existing arrays. This shall include the design and fabrication of sensor interface printed circuit cards and associated electronics hardware. Assist the Government with the design and development of the cable specification for both the power and data acquisition fiber optic cables to be installed as part of the facility upgrade or repair.
Support evaluation and repair of faulty UEM underwater sensor systems. This support shall include providing diver services to inspect and/or remove sensor systems, diagnostic evaluations to determine faulty component(s), and repair/replacement of faulty components. After completing repairs, the Contractor shall conduct inspection and checkout of sensor systems, with Government review and concurrence, prior to reinstallation.
Provide installation support for MSF upgrades and new installation equipment at various MSF facilities, and other UEM array sites as required. Assist NSWCCD with system checkout of upgraded UEM array equipment either on site or in the Contractors facility.
Provide physical scale model test support for emergent projects. This includes assisting in design of physical scale models, test set-up configuration and components, and fabrication of physical scale models/test components.
Assist NSWCCD with lab and field test data acquisition system setup design.
Provide lab and field test equipment installation support including assembly of test equipment, hardware fabrication support, and setup of data acquisition system.


Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other Ocean Engineering disciplines

Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance.
Ten (10) years of collective technical and management experience with U.S. Navy technical programs/projects, marine and ocean engineering experience or project of similar scope.
Ten (10) years of Engineering design support for U.S. Navy underwater electromagnetic (UEM) measurement or equivalent system installations, upgrades, repairs to include:
o Quality Control Reviews
o Design and Component options for UEM systems
o Advanced Development emergent UEM sensor systems
o Design and Development of UEM array sensor, power and data acquisition cables
o Design Recommendations for new, modified or existing calibrated sources units in validating UEM systems
