Job description

Heavy Duty Class A Tow Truck Operator – Sturgis, SD

Plains Towing is hiring reliable, safety-conscious drivers to join our Sturgis team. Whether you're an experienced operator or new to towing and recovery, we provide paid in-house training to get you certified on our equipment.

Pay & Benefits

  • $25–$30/hour DOE, depending on experience, plus unlimited overtime and performance bonuses

Schedule

This is a 5-day-per-week schedule, either Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday (shift assignment based on rotation/seniority). It's tow/recovery work, not a standard desk job, within those 5 days expect:

  • Shifts that can run 12+ hours depending on call volume
  • Occasional long-distance tow/recovery runs on short notice
  • Work in all weather conditions

What You'll Do

  • Load, secure, and transport vehicles safely and without damage
  • Operate wreckers and other specialized recovery equipment
  • Respond to tow/recovery calls, including long-distance dispatches
  • Maintain assigned equipment and facilities in safe working condition
  • Follow all DOT and company safety regulations

Qualifications

  • 21+ years old
  • Valid driver's license required. Class A CDL is required!
  • Able to lift 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
