Job description

Position Summary

The Logistics Planner is responsible for the short-term operational planning of Flex Moving & Storage's nationwide operations across all active metro markets. This role owns the planning process from the moment a job is sold until 24 hours prior to execution (T-24), ensuring every move is fully planned, optimized, and execution-ready.


The Logistics Planner coordinates job scheduling, metro-level operational planning, long-distance move planning, trailer and fleet allocation, and network rebalancing. This position serves as the critical link between Sales, Operations, and Dispatch, ensuring resources, workforce, and fleet are aligned to deliver exceptional customer service while maximizing operational efficiency. This is an hourly role with a hybrid work arrangement; weekend availability is required.



Key Responsibilities

Job Planning

  • Review and perform quality assurance on all newly booked moves
  • Validate job details, operational requirements, and service expectations
  • Design and optimize job structures (Local, Metro-to-Metro, and Multi-Day moves)
  • Build efficient schedules that maximize crew productivity and equipment utilization
  • Ensure every job is fully planned and execution-ready no later than T-24


Metro Operations Planning


  • Develop and maintain daily operational plans for all active metro markets
  • Balance workloads across crews, equipment, and available capacity
  • Optimize scheduling to improve operational efficiency and service level
  • Monitor execution against the operational plan and proactively resolve capacity or scheduling gap


Long-Distance & Cross-Metro Planning

  • Plan and coordinate Metro-to-Metro and long-distance relocations
  • Develop transfer schedules, transit timing, and execution sequences
  • Coordinate operational dependencies between multiple markets
  • Ensure long-distance operations align with fleet availability, labor capacity, and customer commitments


Fleet Planning & Network Rebalancing

  • Plan trailer movements and operational fleet transfers between metro markets
  • Coordinate Operations Deliveries and equipment position
  • Reduce empty miles while maximizing fleet utilization
  • Maintain balanced trailer inventory and fleet availability across the network
  • Support network optimization through proactive fleet rebalancing


Planning to Dispatch Handoff

  • Deliver a complete operational plan to Dispatch no later than T-24.
  • Ensure jobs, crews, trailers, fleet movements, and schedules are fully aligned.
  • Provide complete operational documentation and planning details
  • Partner with Dispatch to ensure seamless execution of daily operations


Continuous Operational Monitoring

  • Track operational performance against
  • Identify scheduling conflicts, capacity shortages, and execution
  • Recommend operational improvements to increase efficiency and service quality
  • Support continuous optimization of planning processes and network performance


Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, scheduling, or operations planning experience in high-volume, fast-paced operational environments
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple metro markets simultaneously
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to make sound operational decisions under tight deadlines


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the moving, storage, transportation, or last-mile logistics industry
  • Knowledge of fleet management, trailer operations, or equipment planning
  • Experience supporting dispatch or marketplace-driven operations
  • Experience coordinating long-distance or multi-market logistics operations
  • Familiarity with transportation optimization and resource planning


Work Environment

  • Hybrid position based at Flex Moving & Storage Headquarters in Aventura, Florida
  • Availability to support operational planning during peak business periods, including occasional extended hours as business demands require.
