Position: Construction Survey Party Chief

Location: Calgary (75% in-town; 25% out-of-town)

Position Overview:

Challenger Geomatics has an opening for a Construction Survey Party Chief based in the Calgary area. While most of the work will be in the Calgary area (approximately 75%), candidates must have a willingness to travel to where the work is. You will have the chance to work on different types of projects and grow your career through participation in our training and development programs.

General Responsibilities:

  • Completes field surveys and works closely with the Project Manager to ensure all client objectives are met.
  • Provides necessary documentation to office staff including any field notes, computations, and other survey data.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and ensures tasks are completed on time.
  • Performs all health and safety duties as identified in the company's safety procedures.
  • Skilled with the use of survey equipment (GPS/GNSS Rovers, Total Stations, Locators, etc.) and ensures all company equipment and vehicles are properly operated and maintained.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics or related discipline as well as previous survey experience.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work out of town.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean driver's abstract
  • Physical fitness - party chief's work outside in tough conditions, often carrying equipment long distances.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the construction surveying
  • Line Locating experience (an asset)
  • Advanced Pilot (an asset)
  • 3D Scanner experience (an asset)
  • Valid Safety Certificates (i.e. H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Wildlife Awareness)
