Job description

Overview
The Fleet Manager leads long-distance driver operations for residential moving services, overseeing scheduling, performance management, and compliance across multi-state markets. This role ensures efficient route planning, driver development, and fleet optimization while maintaining service quality and regulatory adherence. As a people leader, the Fleet Manager drives operational consistency and supports strategic initiatives to improve fleet performance and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of long-distance driver fleet including scheduling, route planning, and load assignments
  • Manage driver performance through regular evaluations, coaching, and development programs
  • Monitor fleet metrics such as on-time delivery, fuel efficiency, and customer feedback
  • Ensure DOT compliance and manage driver certifications and training
  • Collaborate with dispatch, operations, and customer service teams to resolve issues and optimize fleet performance
  • Implement process improvements and cost reduction initiatives across fleet operations
  • Collaborates directly with the Senior Planner to optimize revenue opportunities and ensure cost-effective, compliant planning of all driver assignments in accordance with USDOT regulations.
  • Partners with the Maintenance Department to support the upkeep and operational readiness of all JK equipment assigned to drivers, ensuring timely service and issue resolution.
  • Maintains after-hours support coverage for assigned drivers, including participation in a weekend on-call rotation, to address urgent issues or emergencies and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Support strategic planning and reporting to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years in fleet management, transportation, or logistics

o Proven leadership in managing long-haul driver teams
o Deep knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards
o Route optimization and performance tracking
o Proficiency in fleet management software and GPS systems
o Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving abilities
