Hiring Immediately - Bus Drill Coordinator
Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Bus Drill Coordinator for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The Bus Drill Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that Transdev Services, Inc., and Boston Public Schools Department of Transportation are compliant with state requirements for school bus evacuation drills. The Bus Drill Coordinator's primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining a curriculum and materials for school bus evacuation drills; scheduling, coordinating, and administering school bus evacuation drills with all schools serviced by BPS; and tracking and reporting on compliance with these drills under state law on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains a curriculum and associated supporting materials on school bus evacuation drills.
  • Coordinates with the Safety and Training Department, BPS DOT, and the individual school staff to schedule and assign the necessary resources to conduct said drills.
  • Conducts school bus evacuation drills at each school location in accordance with Massachusetts law, including educating students, staff, faculty, support personnel, school bus drivers, and other relevant personnel.
  • Completes weekly reports on progress towards annual goals.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs the duties of a School Bus Safety Trainer as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, (G.E.D.).
  • Must have a valid Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts School Bus Certificate.
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts School Bus Instructor Certificate.
  • Must have a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card.
  • An excellent motor vehicle record must be maintained.

Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:
  • College degree preferred.

Experience Required:
  • Two (2) years of experience in student transportation operations.

Experience Preferred:
  • School Bus Driver training experience preferred.
  • Adult instruction experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with regulatory agencies, community organizations, and others.
  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs. Ability to utilize other programs such as WebRisk, LYTX, DriveCam, Power BI, and e-Learning.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while exceeding established goals and objectives.
  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy, and possess good judgment and discretion.
  • Must possess ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Must be able to retrieve, generate, and process information in databases.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess effective time management skills.
  • Must be able to work as a member of the team and model safe behavior to others.
  • Ability to work with employees to resolve issues, to enhance their professional growth, and to ensure safety compliance.

  • Must become familiar with the transportation service area.
