Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bus Driver to join our team! This position will manage the daily transportation operations, ensuring the safety, compliance, maintenance, and scheduling of all school vehicles and transportation services. 


Job Summary


The Bus Driver will oversee the day-to-day transportation needs of our K-12 school. Their primary role is to ensure the safety of our students and staff. The Bus Driver will make sure all VCS vehicles are in sound mechanical condition, in compliance with all applicable laws, properly insured, and necessary records are maintained. This position is responsible for driving the daily school bus route and will oversee volunteers for transportation needs. This includes creating and managing schedules, and training. The Bus Driver will work with stakeholders to determine transportation needs for events, field trips, and other school activities. This position will serve as the point of contact with parents who have transportation related questions. This role will also partner with our Athletics Transportation leader.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Onboard and oversee volunteers assigned to transportation needs of VCS
  • Establishes/updates transportation policies and procedures as needed 
  • Works with the business office to make sure that all transportation related expenses are covered in the annual budget, gas cards are reconciled, etc.
  • Coordinates with various school departments to make sure transportation is scheduled
  • Manages our vehicles preventative and emergency maintenance schedules
  • Drives daily school bus route
  • Responsible for the transportation budget
  • Acts as a liaison between all VCS drivers (both paid and volunteer) and our insurance company
  • Responsible for driving a variety of school vehicles
  • Obey all traffic laws
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times
  • Ensure the safety of all students
  • Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends
  • Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed
  • Discipline children as needed to maintain a safe environment
  • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
  • Attend safety meetings as required
  • Adhere to Valley Christian policies, procedures/processes, and codes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card
  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona commercial class B driver license
  • Must have and maintain a valid DOT physical card

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience and training which provides the knowledge and ability to perform the essential duties of this job as those listed above
