Job Purpose
The Manager, Logistics IT Platforms will be responsible for leading the delivery, support, and continuous improvement of technology platforms that enable Herc Rentals' logistics operations. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders, operations leaders, and technical teams to ensure logistics applications and related systems across all platforms mobile and web effectively support scheduling, dispatch, fleet movement, transportation workflows, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.
This leader will oversee platform enhancements, defect resolution, backlog prioritization, and project execution for logistics-related applications. The role requires strong knowledge of agile delivery methodologies, business process analysis, application lifecycle management, and collaboration across cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will bring experience managing technology initiatives in a structured IT environment, driving quality and execution, and ensuring platforms continue to meet evolving business needs.

  • Drive Platform Delivery: Ensure timely delivery of system enhancements, projects, and defect resolutions that support logistics operations and improve business performance.
  • Support Operational Excellence: Partner with logistics and operations teams to align technology capabilities with business priorities, field needs, and service expectations.
  • Improve Quality and Stability: Oversee application quality, release readiness, issue tracking, and continuous improvement efforts across logistics platforms.
  • Strengthen Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with business users, technical teams, QA, and support resources to ensure business requirements are translated into effective solutions.
  • Provide Leadership and Visibility: Deliver regular updates to business and IT leadership on project progress, priorities, risks, and overall platform health.

What you will do...
Business and Platform Leadership
  • Understand and communicate business requirements for logistics platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational priorities.
  • Partner with Logistics, Operations, Fleet, vendor partners, and IT teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and better platform performance.
  • Support the strategic direction and roadmap for logistics-related applications and ensure priorities are aligned with business value.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating operational needs into actionable plans.

Backlog, Enhancement, and Defect Management
  • Manage platform backlogs, enhancement requests, and defect prioritization to support timely and effective delivery.
  • Oversee agile delivery activities including planning, story refinement, sprint support, and release coordination.
  • Track production issues and defect resolution efforts, ensuring timely follow-up, root cause visibility, and appropriate communication with stakeholders.
  • Support the planning and execution of enhancement cycles, maintenance releases, and system updates.

Project Delivery and Oversight
  • Provide oversight for logistics IT projects, including scope, milestones, risks, open items, and resource coordination.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and external or offshore resources to ensure deliverables meet business needs, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure dependencies, issues, and risks are identified and managed effectively.
  • Support major initiatives related to logistics platform enhancements, integrations, and operational process improvements.

Quality, Compliance, and Process Improvement
  • Track and maintain quality metrics for story quality, test readiness, defect trends, and release performance.
  • Ensure work is performed within a structured IT environment and adheres to compliance, governance, and change control processes.
  • Promote best practices in documentation, testing, requirements management, and delivery execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, increase efficiency, and enhance the user experience across logistics platforms.

Communication and Team Collaboration
  • Prepare and deliver regular project and platform updates for business and leadership presentations.
  • Collaborate effectively with developers, QA teams, analysts, product owners, and operations stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.
  • Support resource coordination and team alignment to ensure projects and enhancements are delivered with quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service delivery.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience working in an IT environment supporting application delivery, business analysis, QA, and project execution.
  • Experience supporting or managing business applications related to logistics, transportation, dispatch, scheduling, fleet operations, or related operational platforms preferred.
  • Strong background with agile project delivery methodologies, backlog management, and enhancement planning.
  • Experience in driving IT functional analysis, business process review, use cases, and functional specification documentation.
  • Experience with user story design and management.
  • Experience managing project activities and working with cross-functional technical and business teams.
  • Experience overseeing development resources, including external or offshore teams, preferred.
  • Formal training in Business Analysis, Agile, and/or Project Management preferred.

Skills
  • Strong understanding of application delivery, enhancement planning, and defect resolution processes.
  • Experience with agile tools and collaboration platforms such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of software QA processes, test coordination, and release management.
  • Strong MS Office skills including Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas and concepts effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and follow through.
  • Ability to document and articulate business requirements clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines for high-visibility projects and work constructively under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work in a structured IT environment and follow compliance and change control processes.
  • Experience with SQL, reporting tools, or logistics-related systems preferred.
