About the Role
The Specialist, Rail Operations sits on the logistics team and plays a crucial role in assisting in the management of the Primient's railcar fleet, ensuring seamless operations through the daily monitoring of maintenance statuses of cars in shop ensuring capital and regulatory scopes of work are completed on time. By also coordinating mobile repair requests to minimize disruptions. This role directly impacts the company's logistics performance by maintaining a high standard of operational efficiency and supporting timely deliveries by ensuring communications between relevant parties ensuring prompt responses and follow up.
Key responsibilities:
  • Coordinate Railcar Repairs: Monitor and manage railcars out of service for maintenance, ensuring swift coordination with repair locations to minimize downtime and uphold fleet reliability.
  • Coordinate and Schedule Capital and Regulatory Maintenance: Work with respective fleet specialist, shop, and Alltranstek to ensure capital projects and regulatory tank car repairs are scheduled through shop without impacting fleet operations.
  • Procure Railcar Parts: Coordinate the timely procurement of railcar parts for plants and contracted maintenance teams, ensuring an uninterrupted supply to support ongoing operations and repairs.
  • Manage Alltranstek/RAS Data Services Invoice: Validate and process monthly invoices from RAS Data Services, ensuring timely payments and adherence to service agreements
  • Analyze Rail Fleet Data: Analyze rail fleet data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction or improvement.
  • Monthly Cost Reporting: Prepare and distribute the Monthly Cost Report for the rail fleet, providing financial transparency and supporting budget management with detailed expense analysis.

Required and Preferred Education/Certification
  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (preferred)

Required and Preferred Work Experience
  • 1+ year experience in Manufacturing (preferred)
  • Experience using data analysis tools such as Excel (required)
  • Experience using Systems Applications and Products (SAP) systems and RailTrac (or other rail tracing system) (preferred)

Total Rewards
The annual pay range estimated for this position is $59,628.80 - $74,536.00 and is bonus eligible.
Please note that while this range reflects the full spectrum of compensation available for this role, individual compensation will be determined based on several factors including your experience, skills, and alignment with the role's responsibilities. During the interview process there will be an opportunity to discuss how your background fits into the pay range.
