Job description

Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the transportation and delivery of Chlorum products, with a primary focus on rail shipments and supporting truck transportation activities. This position works closely with customers, rail carriers, trucking companies, plant operations, and internal teams to ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in managing shipment execution, transportation documentation, customer communications, and logistics planning while supporting the day-to-day commercial operations of a growing manufacturing organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound rail shipments, including railcar scheduling, tracking, and customer communications.
  • Coordinate truck shipments and work with carriers to ensure timely product deliveries.
  • Schedule product shipments with customers, railroads, trucking companies, terminals, and plant operations.
  • Monitor railcar movements, shipment status, transit times, and delivery performance.
  • Coordinate closely with the Eddyville plant to align production schedules with transportation requirements.
  • Process customer orders and maintain shipment documentation through completion.
  • Prepare and maintain transportation documentation, bills of lading, shipping records, and related logistics documentation.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to resolve transportation, order, and billing issues.
  • Maintain accurate logistics records and reporting within SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Assist with freight invoice reconciliation and transportation cost tracking.
  • Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, customer service, and logistics processes.
  • Perform other logistics and transportation duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
Required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Two or more years of logistics, transportation, rail, supply chain, or customer service experience.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across Operations, Sales, Finance, and Production.

Preferred
  • Experience coordinating rail transportation, railcar movements, or bulk commodity shipments.
  • Experience supporting chemical manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or bulk transportation operations.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Experience with freight carriers, railroads, transportation providers, and logistics documentation.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions
This position is primarily office-based and is expected to maintain a regular on-site presence at the Skokie office. Occasional travel to the Eddyville facility or transportation partners may be required. Occasional overtime or schedule flexibility may be necessary to support transportation schedules and customer requirements.
